The main idea of this nZEB bioclimatic house in Fasoula, Limassol, is analyzed in the composition of two main volumes, which are separated based on their materiality and their function, following the modernistic standards, since their function is reflected on their geometry. The space created under the volume of the first floor hosts the parking spaces and the reception area of the house, whilst the use of dense wooden beams ensures the required privacy for the yard, without affecting its natural ventilation. The bioclimatic character of the building becomes evident from the orientation of the main volumes of the building and the placement of large openings in the south, which are protected by horizontal cantilevers that are integrated in the design. The energy efficient character of the building is also supported by the use of thermal insulation materials, the layout of the openings that achieves natural cross ventilation and the use of active solar energy systems, such as a 4kW photovoltaic system.
