House in Agios Tychonas II

In this residence in Agios Tychonas, linear forms were investigated with the ultimate goal of utilizing a linear plot fully and functionally, as well as taking advantage of its inherent natural characteristics. Hence, the entire length of the plot was morphologically unified, starting from the parking space, the public areas of the dwelling, up to the auxiliary building, with a dynamic design motion and the use of an exposed concrete frame. The private spaces are hosted on the first floor, in a white volume, giving a modernist vibe, with the material being differentiated according to the function. All the areas of the building are opened to the south and the view, while the large sliding glass doors of the ground floor allow the integration of the interior with the exterior, while at the same time they guaranty insolation during the winter and full sun protection during the summer. Vertical blinds on the north elevation provide the required level of privacy from the street while also allowing cross ventilation in the exterior semi-outdoor space, while horizontal blinds on its roof aid in cooling it down. All the above combined with active solar systems, resulted to a nearly zero energy building (nZEB).
